In Casale Monferrato, CRA-Carlo Ratti Associati wins the competition for Buzzi Heritage’s cultural center—where a new cultural hub will rise above gardens and courtyards, linking the company’s archive with the next chapter of construction.
A 100-meter-long suspended parametric truss connects the existing structures, transforming the site into a publicly accessible cultural hub floating above a garden. At ground level, a sequence of courtyards mediates between public and private uses, opening the complex to the city through new green spaces. ... See MoreSee Less

Featured in Corriere della Sera: our project for Buzzi Heritage’s cultural center in Casale Monferrato.
A 100m suspended span lifts the archive, freeing the ground below into a sequence of courtyards, designed for everyday use as much as for cultural programming.
The project explores how digital fabrication can transform reinforced concrete, rethinking not only how we build, but the kind of spaces we can create.
“The future starts from reuse, not new construction.”

Take a walk between the past and future of concrete.
A 100-meter suspended truss cuts through the Buzzi Heritage’s cultural center in Casale Monferrato like a provocation — redefining what digital fabrication is capable of, and forcing a fundamental rethink of a material so familiar, so omnipresent.
Developed by CRA-Carlo Ratti Associati with Maestro Technologies, the system merges traditional concrete casting with laser-cut and CNC-machined components, fabricated off-site and assembled with millimeter-level precision. ... See MoreSee Less

The France Pavilion at Osaka World Expo 2025 unfolds as a theatre of life.
Inspired by the Japanese legend of Akai Ito, the invisible red thread said to connect destined souls, the architecture explores how physical space can bring people together in an increasingly digital world.
The journey unfolds through a rhythm of interior galleries, open air passages, and a quiet garden before returning to the wider Expo grounds. Along the façade, fabric veils shift with wind and light like theatre curtains, giving the pavilion a constantly changing presence.
Over the course of the Expo the pavilion welcomed nearly 5 million visitors, becoming the most visited national pavilion.

A throwback to the details behind AquaPraça as it moored at the Venice Architecture Biennale 2025 before continuing its journey to Belém.
The 400 m² floating plaza was later unveiled at COP30, rising and falling with the tides of the Guajará Bay. Today, AquaPraça remains in the Amazon as a permanent civic space for climate engagement and cultural initiatives.

In partnership with Italy’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Italy’s Ministry of Environment and Energy Security, AquaPraça was made possible thanks to a broad international coalition. How can Europe’s cities stay livable, affordable and welcoming for both residents and visitors?
On 5 March, Carlo Ratti joins policymakers, city leaders and industry voices in Brussels to tackle one of the biggest questions facing Europe’s urban future.
Housing pressure is rising. Tourism is reshaping city centers. Quality of life is under strain. The answer is better collaboration and smarter policy.
This gathering is also a call to action to join the Future of Cities Coalition, a new pan-European initiative focused on cross sector dialogue and practical solutions for cities across Europe.
Carlo will speak alongside Nathan Blecharczyk, Matthew Baldwin, Jan-Christoph Oetjen, Angela Barnes and many other movers and shakers.
The event is convened by Airbnb, City Destinations Alliance | CityDNA, Build Europe, European Large Families Confederation (ELFAC), and European Network Family Friendly Municipalities with media partnership by Euronews.
