𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗻𝗥𝗜𝗖𝗘 There are only two days left to see sunRICE, our installation for Milan Design Week 2024, in the fantastic setting of the Orto Botanico di Brera. The installations, inspired by Yona Friedman’s metabolic structures, represent our latest step in experimenting with materials. After tomatoes, coffee, and mycelium, we are now focusing on rice: the world’s most consumed cereal. This becomes a reflection on how we conceive the built world and how we can use the waste from the materials of our daily lives. What can we do with rice waste? The debate is just beginning, but with sunRICE, we want to say that we shouldn’t limit ourselves. The possibilities are endless, and as we often say here at CRA, our best project is the one that we are yet to do! @crassociati #CarloRatti @italorotastudio @internimagazine @eni @fuorisalone @ricehouse.it #InterniFuoriSalone #milanodesignweek #milanodesignweek2024 #mdw2024

Innovative design

A pavilion with walls of water. A skyscraper covered in plants. A renewable energy battery that doubles as a sauna. Carlo’s design firm, CRA-Carlo Ratti Associati, is designing the city of tomorrow and bringing the natural and artificial worlds together.
